Metallic McQueen dress sold for £79,250; Satin Lacroix ballgown sold for £12,500
Since it was announced that Daphne Guinness would be putting her incredible wardrobe under the hammer, we knew it would fetch a few quid - and after the auction took place at Christie's last night, we have the total sum. So how does £476,800 sound? That's almost FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND pounds, people! Pretty impressive, no?
Admittedly, we shouldn't be surprised that the result far-exceeded the pre-sale estimate of £100,000 because the auction offered a veritable treasure trove of 102 pieces. We're talking a Lacroix white lace dress with black matador jacket, Alexander McQueen gowns, Chanel numbers and mega heels direct from Lady Guinness' personal wardrobe. Phewf. The auction raised funds for The Isabella Blow Foundation, set up by Daphne in memory of her fashion editor friend to continue her work in supporting emerging fashion talent and we'd say she's done rather well.

Mario Testino photograph sold for £133,250; Ivory McQueen dress sold for £85,250
So the important bit: which lot made the most? A photograph of Daphers taken by Mario Testino in March 2008 went for a whooping £133,250, setting a new world record price for the legendary snapper at auction. As for the top dress, an ivory silk tulle empire line gown by Alexander McQueen, which Emma Watson wore to the National Movie Awards in 2008, sold for £85,250. Golly gosh! In fact, all the McQueen dresses sold on the night surpassed the Brit brand's previous world records at auction.
There were also bargains to be had. A black chiffon evening gown by Narciso Rodriguez went for £125 while a silk jersey cocktail dress by Lacroix fetched a reasonable £238.
'As I watched the auction from invisible wings this evening, I crossed my fingers and toes,' says Daphne of last night's extravaganza. 'This cause is close to my heart. I am genuinely touched by the response it has generated, and truly excited for the future of The Isabella Blow Foundation.'

A pair of McQueen ankle boots sold for £15,000
Daphne also revealed that a certain singer won a few lots: 'I'm overwhelmed by how many bidders took part this evening and I'm particularly moved by Lady Gaga's support for the Foundation,' she said. 'I like her very much, and it's lovely to see the nascent beginnings of something that may help other people.'
That's right folks, none other than Gagaloo snapped up a few items, although what she won remains undisclosed. We're placing our bets on seeing her trotting through the streets of NYC in those gold McQueen angel heels...
